Women in Creative Industries is a capacity building initiative in which 300 young women from Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Dakahlia will have the chance to choose and learn about one of the following tracks; directing, scriptwriting or photography in a 5 day workshop in Cairo during Dec 2024/Jan 2025. This activity falls under the “Ending Violence against Women and Girls” Programme, implemented by UN Women in partnership with the National Council for Women with the generous support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). These workshops are executed by Media & More.
Filmmaking/Directing
Participants will get introduced to the main concepts of film directing and will be given the chance to create a short film as a team. This includes developing the director’s treatment and vision. This workshop is designed to offer participants larger knowledge with basic tools; including how to read a script as a director, decoupage (creating shot lists) and choosing your angles.

Participants will learn through a five-day workshop the basics of scriptwriting and get intense hands-on exercises and assignments.

Photography
This in-depth workshop is designed to help aspiring photographers learn how to use a camera professionally. You will learn how to operate a camera and which settings are best for specific photographic situations. In addition, you will learn how to make a photo composition, how to tell a story through your photos using professional cameras and equipment. Professional cameras will be provided during the sessions to enhance the learning experience.
